GFF, CONCACAF join forces for Bigger Game Academy

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF), in collaboration with the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), hosted a workshop yesterday to launch the CONCACAF Bigger Game Academy Pilot Programme, aimed at strengthening grassroots football development in Guyana.

The training workshop was held at Olympic House and was facilitated by CONCACAF Coach Educators Joe Supe, Roberto Lopez, and Tashana Vincent, along with former Jamaica Reggae Girlz star and GFF Technical Director Bryan Joseph and Coach Educator Lyndon France.
The Bigger Game Academy was CONCACAF’s flagship grassroots “football for development” programme, designed to equip teachers, Coaches and community leaders with the knowledge and skills to deliver football clinics alongside a structured 10-week curriculum.
The programme combined football sessions with lessons in teamwork, respect, resilience, child protection, equality and social inclusion.
Coaches from five selected regional associations – East Demerara, Georgetown, East Bank, West Demerara and Upper Demerara – participated in the workshop.
Following the training, participants were expected to select a community where, with the support of volunteers, they would deliver the 10-week programme to children between the ages of six and 12.
The initiative was scheduled to culminate in a festival at the end of 2026, providing participating children with an opportunity to showcase the skills and values developed throughout the programme.
The workshop formed part of the GFF and CONCACAF’s efforts to use football as a tool for the development of children and communities while strengthening the capacity of Coaches and community leaders.
