The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Technical Department has strengthened its focus on goalkeeper development with a specialised, hands-on training session for goalkeeper coaches attached to GFF Elite League clubs.
The Goalkeeper Game Warm-Up Session was held on September 16 at the GFF National Training Centre in Providence and was led by GFF Head of Goalkeeping Aeon DeViera.
The practical programme focused on goalkeeper-specific warm-up methodologies, modern match preparation and the effective application of pre-game routines.
Elite League goalkeeper coaches participated in a series of on-field exercises and demonstrations, applying techniques aimed at improving goalkeeper preparation while raising the standard of specialist coaching across the domestic game.
DeViera, who recently earned his UEFA Goalkeeper B Diploma, said the initiative provided an opportunity to bring international coaching knowledge into the local football environment.

“Earning my UEFA Goalkeeper B Diploma has provided me with greater exposure to modern goalkeeper coaching methodologies and international best practices. An important part of that journey is bringing that knowledge back home, sharing it with our coaches and creating a stronger and more consistent approach to goalkeeper development across Guyana,” DeViera said.
GFF Technical Director Bryan Joseph described the programme as an important step in the Federation’s long-term plans for goalkeeper development.
“This is a landmark initiative for goalkeeping development in Guyana. Through practical, hands-on training, we are building specialist capacity among our coaches and creating stronger development environments for our goalkeepers. Our ambition is to position Guyana to become a Caribbean leader in goalkeeper training and development,” Joseph said.
The session forms part of the GFF Technical Department’s wider commitment to advancing technical education, strengthening coaching capacity and establishing improved pathways for goalkeeper development throughout Guyana’s football system.
