GHDS to host countrywide candlelight vigils

World Suicide Prevention Day

The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha will join other organisations, including Caribbean Voices, in hosting candlelight vigils across the country in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day—observed today.
The religious body is urging the public to join in these activities, as well as to attend all activities in observance of this day.
The aim of the exercise is to join hands to give courage to those who are coping with mental health disorders, including depression, and to those who have lost loved ones to suicide, to those who are survivors of suicide and to raise awareness of this terrible epidemic.
Candlelight vigils are planned for several locations and will feature poetry, singing and more.
The locations for the vigils are Central Dharmic Naujawan – Shri Krishna Mandir at 18:30h; Ocean View Mandir, WCD at 17:30h; Golden Om Dharmic Youth Group at 18:00h; Bush Lot Vishnu Mandir, Corentyne at 19:00h; Strathavon Mandir, ECD at 18:30h; Bath Mandir and Woodley Park Mandirs, WCB at 18:00h; Coverden Mandir, Soesdyke Vishnu Mandir, Durga Devi Mandir, Kundalini Mandir and Shakti Mandir, EBD at 18:00h and Anna Regina Car Park at 18:30h.
On Sunday, September 11, Parika Dharmic Mandir, EBE will host theirs at 18:00h with a special Dharmic Satsang.
