Global Auto Spares Golf Classic on this weekend

The first of two tournaments to be hosted by Global Auto Spares in 2020 will be held this weekend at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC). The occasion is to celebrate the grand opening of the entity’s Georgetown location: at Lot 87 Seaforth Street, Campbellville.

Owner of the Global Auto Spares entity, Hardeo ‘Curry’ Ganpat, has been a staunch supporter of the LGC since becoming a member thereof, and has vowed to continue his support of the work and vision of the club.

“I have seen for myself what President Aleem Hussain has personally done for the sport and this club, and I am proud to stand with him and help to achieve the vision he has for Lusignan Golf Club,” Ganpat has said.

This weekend’s tournament will feature three flights, with prizes being given to those placed first and second therein, and there will be special recognition for the longest drive and nearest to the pin.

The course is in probably its best condition in years, and with players having had consistent practice, the level of play has increased and competition has gotten tougher; thus a grand tournament is anticipated, and many members, who are all honing their game in anticipation of the COPA Airlines Invitational scheduled for January 25th, are expected to participate therein.

Under the leadership of President Aleem Hussain, the LGC has seen tremendous progress and growth over the past two years, with more sponsors (230%), events (140%), and members than at any other time in its history. This means that the revenue from membership will now cover almost 50% of operating expenses, up from just 22% in previous years.

The AGM of the LCG is soon to be held. It will be interesting to see how the club moves forward to complete the grand plans that this Executive team has sought to put forward during its time in office.
