Operators’ Association of Guyana
The Aviation Operators’ Association of Guyana (AOAG) is inviting experienced aviation professionals from around the world to consider Guyana as their next professional destination as the country’s aviation sector expands alongside economic growth.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the AOAG said growing investment in energy, infrastructure, tourism, mining and private-sector development is creating increased demand for aviation services, aircraft, routes and skilled professionals.
The association is seeking pilots, aircraft engineers, maintenance and avionics specialists, flight dispatchers, aviation managers, instructors and other technical professionals.
According to the AOAG, there is particular demand for professionals with experience on aircraft such as the Cessna 206, Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, Britten-Norman Islander, Britten-Norman Trislander, Beechcraft 1900D and HAL 228.
The association is also seeking specialists with experience on Pratt & Whitney PT6 and Honeywell TPE331 engines.
The AOAG said professionals joining the local industry would have the opportunity to work across remote communities and in varying operating conditions, including tropical weather, challenging terrain and both paved and unpaved aerodromes.
It said such operations provide opportunities to develop practical skills in aircraft performance, decision-making, route planning, fuel management and operational risk.
Guyana’s aviation sector also provides an English-speaking working environment, a professional culture and competitive remuneration packages, the association said.
Depending on the individual opportunity, packages could include relocation assistance, rotational arrangements, professional development, type-specific training and opportunities for career advancement.
The AOAG also pointed to Guyana’s expanding healthcare and education services, Georgetown’s lifestyle and the country’s location between the Caribbean and South America as factors that could appeal to aviation professionals and their families.
AOAG President Captain Learie C. Barclay said the initiative is intended to go beyond addressing vacancies within the sector.
“The World is a global village where varied expertise and experience can only add benefit to our local melting pot. Guyana is ready for you to partner with us to build the Caribbean’s Centre of Aviation Excellence, as charged to do so by His Excellency President Mohammed Irfaan Ali,” Barclay said.
The association said international aviation professionals would also have an opportunity to contribute to the development of local expertise by transferring knowledge, mentoring young Guyanese professionals and introducing international best practices.
According to the AOAG, their involvement could also help strengthen Guyana’s aviation safety, maintenance and operational systems.
The association said the recruitment drive forms part of its vision for the development of Guyana’s aviation industry as the country’s economy continues to expand.
“Come to Guyana. Come where your experience will be valued and further developed. Come where your skills will make a difference. Come and help build the Caribbean’s next aviation powerhouse,” the association said.
