GMRSC International Drag Race meet: Balram Auto Mechanic and Team Trans Pacific have 5 cars in the fray

Balram Ramdeo, proprietor of Balram Auto Mechanic of Lot 55, Area A, Latchman Singh Housing Scheme, Lusignan, ECD, has declared that he would walk away with the accolade for ‘Best Mechanic’ when the curtains come down on the 2022 staging of the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club’s (GMRSC’s) International Drag Race Meet, which is scheduled for the 1320 Strip at the South Dakota Circuit, EBD, over the coming weekend.
This event would see drivers from at least four countries competing for honours and bragging rights, apart from the financial rewards involved.

In a comment invited by this publication, Ramdeo, former “Best Mechanic” winner, disclosed that his camp, in partnership with Team Trans Pacific Motor Spares & Auto Sales, would be fielding a total of five cars in this internationally competitive event, and he is confidently guaranteeing that his machines would dominate their respective classes.
His garage boasts a formidable lineup of locally built vehicles, and includes an unlimited class Alteeza with a 2Jz-powered engine, which would be driven by Rameez Mohamed. Krishna Ramseywack, the Principal of Team Trans Pacific, would be behind the wheel of the 2Jz Toyota Verossa, while Romeo Singh would take control of one of two 5e Toyota Glanza vehicles. The fifth car is a Mark II 1Jz.
“As long as everything goes well, we will get a good race and a good showdown,” head mechanic Balram Ramdeo shared when this publication visited his garage at Lusignan.
Ahead of most drag racing meets, Balram often touts exceptional performances with the Trans Pacific-sponsored Toyota Altezza. Regrettably, mechanical issues have prevented the machine from unleashing its true power.
However, Balram has assured that this would not be the case this weekend, as Team Guyana looks to aggressively defend its turf against the invasion from T&T and Suriname.
Meanwhile, competitors are advised that registration for this weekend’s events closes on Wednesday. Fan tickets, costing $2000 for adults and $1000 for kids, are on sale at the club’s Thomas Lands offices in Georgetown.
