The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has opened registration for its marquee Clash of Champions circuit racing event, scheduled for October 31 to November 1 at the South Dakota Cir-cuit.
Group Two action will be hotter than ever, with Mohamed Shairaz Roshandin (foreground) and Shan Seejattan renewing their rivalry
Registration began on Wednesday at the club’s Thomaslands and Albert Street offices, with competi-tors also able to register online.
The announcement comes on the heels of the successful Berbice Drag Racing Invasion last weekend, as the club looks to maintain its momentum following two major events in the second half of the year, including the opening round of the National Championships.
GMR&SC President Mohamed Shiraz Roshandin said registration was progressing through both in-person and online channels as preparations intensify for the highly anticipated event.
“We want to keep the momentum from the final half of the year, coming off two successful events, both the opening round of the National Championships and the Berbice Invasion drag race event. Now we are moving into our marquee event,” Roshandin said.
He added that the club expects strong international participation, with competitors anticipated from across the Caribbean, as well as the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe.
“So far, we are about two weeks out and we have already confirmed participation from the Caribbean American Motorsports (CAMS), as well as several Caribbean countries for both Group Four and Group Three, along with some serious competition in Group Two,” Roshandin added.
The Clash of Champions is expected to bring together competitors across several circuit racing disci-plines, with cars and motorcycles set to feature in a weekend of high-speed action at the Timehri-based venue.
