GNBA to develop information and resource centre

The Guyana National Broadcasting Authority (GNBA) is in the process of setting up its information and resource centre under the guidance of UNESCO’s consultant and pioneer multimedia librarian of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Maureen Webster-Prince.

The expert is mandated to train and guide executives of the Authority on how to develop the centre.
UNESCO in a release stated that Webster-Prince met with several stakeholders over the past week with the aim of sensitising them about the vision and objective of this project.
The outreach exercises were organised as a fact-finding mission to ascertain the availability of information, the skills in the industry and to examine the possibility of forging interagency collaboration.
Nevertheless, some of the organisations the GNBA and UNESCO consultant engaged during the past week included the National Archives, National Communications Network, UNESCO Guyana, University of Guyana (UG): Centre for Communication Studies/UG Library and Caricom. Those engagements were especially fruitful.  The GNBA is optimistic that collaborations are forthcoming, as the various stages of this important project are operationalised.
Meanwhile, the information and resource centre of the GNBA is envisaged as an information and resource hub for stakeholders, where audiovisual content, scholastic pieces, research, documentaries and other relevant information will be preserved for posterity.
