GOA selects trio for Olympic Youth Camp in Tobago

The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has named three representatives to attend the Olympic Solidarity-supported 2026 Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) Olympic Youth Camp, scheduled for August 23–28 at the Tropical Pleasure Resort in Plymouth, Tobago.
Arun Singh (archery) and Tesianna Harris (athletics) will participate as Guyana’s youth representatives, while Crystal Persaud has been appointed as the team’s chaperone.
The camp, regarded as one of the Caribbean’s leading youth development programmes, has been staged for more than two decades and is supported through Olympic Solidarity. It aims to inspire young athletes while promoting the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship.

During the week-long programme, participants will be exposed to leadership training, Olympic education, cultural exchange, and team-building exercises. The initiative also provides a platform for personal development and interaction with athletes from National Olympic Committees across the region.
The 2026 edition is expected to attract participants from across the Caribbean, strengthening ties among regional Olympic bodies while nurturing future athletes, leaders and ambassadors of the Olympic Movement.
According to the GOA, participants were selected based on their commitment to sport, leadership qualities, teamwork and their ability to reflect Olympic values both on and off the field. Chaperones are tasked with supporting the athletes’ well-being while serving as responsible and positive role models.
GOA President Godfrey Munroe and the executive committee extended congratulations to the trio on their selection, noting that the camp represents an important developmental opportunity.
The association also acknowledged the continued support of Olympic Solidarity and the T&T Olympic Committee in advancing youth development initiatives across the region.
Singh, Harris and Persaud are expected to depart Guyana in August as they prepare to represent the country at the regional camp.
