Dhan Paul fires West Coast Warriors to 49-run win over Pehowa

Former Demerara Inter-County player and US-based Guyanese, Avi Dhanpaul churned out a magnificent, all-round performance to power West Coast Warriors to a commanding, 49-run win over Pehowa last Sunday in the continuation of the Commonwealth League Cricket 30-over tournament in New York.
Dhan Paul struck 62 to help Warriors total up a respectable 182-9 from the reduced 20 overs, while he then grabbed 5-17 from 2.5 off-spin overs as Pehowa were all out for 133 in the 18th over. The reduction of the overs was due to Pehowa appearing at another facility, and as a consequence, they arrived late at the main venue.

Playing at Seaview Front Ground, Dhanpaul got good support from several batters with some solid contributions. Opener Shiv Sangalemaa scored 26, while his fellow opening partner Youghestir Bachan and Chandrapaul Persaud added 25 and 24, respectively.
Javid Shafeek made 25 towards the backend of the innings as Ishan Hossain, Taran Ghostra and Sunny Singh picked up two wickets apiece for Pehowa.
When they batted, Singh returned with the bat to prove his all-round capability by hitting 54, alongside 31 from Gagandeep Singh.
Shefeek and Kenly Adams were also in the wicket column for the table-topper West Coast Warriors, by nabbing two wickets each.
This is West Coast Warriors’ 10th win from 11 games.
Meanwhile, the competition continues on Sunday as Warriors will compete against Whim Boyz.
The tournament will run until late August with the grand finale.
