GOGEC hails Errea Wittu arrival

…says continued O&G expansion to drive jobs, investment, business opportunities

The Guyana Oil and Gas Energy Chamber (GOGEC) has welcomed the arrival of the Errea Wittu, Guyana’s fifth Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, describing it as another milestone in the expansion of the country’s offshore oil and gas industry. The vessel, whose name means “Abundance” in the Warrau language, was constructed by MODEC for the Uaru development in the Stabroek Block. GOGEC said the name also recognises Guyana’s Indigenous heritage.

The Errea Wittu follows the deployment of the Liza Destiny, Liza Unity, Prosperity and ONE GUYANA FPSOs as offshore production continues to expand. According to GOGEC, the Errea Wittu is expected to begin production in September 2026 and has been designed to produce approximately 250,000 barrels of oil per day at peak capacity. The US$12.7 billion Uaru development is targeting more than 800 million barrels of recoverable oil, which GOGEC said would add significantly to Guyana’s production base and contribute to economic development. Current production from the Stabroek Block is approximately 900,000 barrels per day. With the commissioning of the Errea Wittu, Guyana’s overall production is expected to surpass the one-million-barrel-per-day mark. GOGEC said the continued expansion of the sector presents opportunities for employment, local businesses, investment, skills development, technology transfer and increased economic activity.
The Chamber also congratulated ExxonMobil Guyana Limited, operator of the Stabroek Block and a member of GOGEC, for its role in advancing offshore developments. It also recognised MODEC, another GOGEC member, for delivering its first FPSO for Guyana and bringing its expertise to the Uaru project.
GOGEC said it remains committed to supporting an industry in which Guyanese businesses and professionals can increasingly participate and benefit from the growth of the oil and gas sector.
