GPF launches WhatsApp group for traffic reports

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has introduced a WhatsApp group, where the public can send instances of traffic issues which they would have encountered.
On Tuesday, the Traffic Department of the GPF stated that persons can send videos, pictures and information pertaining to traffic issues emanating from the 10 administrative regions. In this way, these matters can be “promptly addressed”.
Persons can send their information to 620-6713.
In recent time, persons have shared videos and photos on social media, highlighting various traffic offences that they would have witnessed. In many cases, these videos went viral.
In December 2019, a video went viral after it showed the reckless behaviour of a minibus driver and his conductor. Meanwhile, in the previous incident, a minibus conductor was seen in a video which went viral, dancing to music with its door wide open, and the driver of the same bus was seen placing his feet outside of the moving vehicle as he was driving.
Days later, another video surfaced on social media showing a conductor dancing on top of a moving minibus at the minibus park at the Stabroek Market area. Additionally, passengers were seated inside the bus and the music emanating from the moving vehicle was preposterously loud.
Shortly after, ranks of the Force went on a search for the bus and its conductor.
