GPF makes services accessible with drivers’ exams, road safety campaigns

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Saturday conducted a community outreach in Rupunau Village, South Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo), aimed at making essential services more accessible to communities across the hinterland.
As part of the outreach, a learner driver’s theoretical examination was administered to new applicants and rescheduled candidates who were unable to travel to Lethem to complete the examination.
Toshao Michael Wilson expressed his appreciation to the GPF for bringing this important service directly to the village, noting that it greatly benefited residents.
He also thanked the ranks for their commitment, and said the community looks forward to similar initiatives in the future.

Meanwhile, on Friday, ranks attached to the Lethem Police Station Traffic Department conducted a road safety sensitisation exercise for motorists travelling throughout the Lethem Township.
The initiative focused on educating drivers about the importance of not stopping within 30 feet of any corner while reinforcing key road safety practices.
Motorists were reminded to obey all traffic signs and signals, keep to the correct side of the roadway, use designated parking areas where available, and exercise patience and courtesy when sharing the road with other users.
Ranks also encouraged all road users to remain alert, vigilant, and responsible at all times, emphasising that safe driving habits play a vital role in preventing road traffic collisions and protecting lives.
