In an effort to make driving tests more accessible to all Guyanese, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) conducted a Learner Driver’s Theoretical Examination in Katoka Village, Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo), on Saturday. The examination is normally conducted in Lethem. However, the GPF said the test was held in the community to provide a convenient opportunity for aspiring drivers to access essential services.
The test was administered to new applicants and rescheduled candidates who were previously unable to travel to Lethem to sit the examination.
According to a DPI report, this opportunity has enabled residents to operate motor vehicles legally, allowing individuals to commute to work, run errands, and access essential services more easily.”
Village Councillor Nimrud Parks also lauded the GPF for bringing the service to the village and commended the ranks for their continuous efforts, and said he looks forward to similar initiatives and services in the future.
