Green Machine falls to Barbados as Tier 2 hopes suffer setback

Guyana’s national men’s rugby team Green Machine suffered a 21-3 defeat to Barbados in their Rugby Americas North (RAN) Tier Two Fifteens clash at the Garrison Savannah on Saturday night, a result that dealt a significant blow to their hopes of retaining their place in the competition.
The visitors made a promising start and took an early 3-0 lead, but a combination of controversial officiating, costly errors in transition from defence to attack, and missed opportunities allowed Barbados to seize control of the contest and build a decisive advantage.

Despite trailing, Guyana showed plenty of determination in the second half and continued to battle until the final whistle. However, a series of mistakes at crucial moments, coupled with more contentious decisions, prevented the Green Machine from mounting a successful comeback.
The defeat leaves Guyana’s future in the competitive Tier Two competition hanging in the balance, with confirmation still pending on whether they will face Trinidad and Tobago on home soil in their next fixture.
A detailed match report will appear in tomorrow’s edition.
