Gun, ammo drop from pillion rider during high-speed chase
The Police have retrieved a .32 pistol containing one live round of ammunition after it was disposed of by two men riding an XR motorcycle in the vicinity of Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
Based on reports received, on the day in question, a mobile patrol observed the black motorcycle with the driver and a pillion rider. At the time, there were no registration plates on the motorcycle and as such, the Police gave chase with the aim of intercepting same.
In the process, an object reportedly fell from the pillion rider and landed on the roadway. The ranks immediately stopped their vehicle and collected the fallen object, which turned out to be the pistol.
The two men, however, made good their escape into Plum Park, Sophia. The firearm was lodged as investigations continue.
