Gun tooting bandit nabbed moments after robbing WCD business

Moments after robbing a Meten-meer-Zorg businesswoman on Saturday, the perpetrator, a 38-year-old resident of Costello Housing Scheme in Georgetown, was apprehended.
Based on reports received, at about 14:30h on Saturday, the armed suspect entered the business place and relieved the owner of an undisclosed sum of cash. After committing the act, he reported jumped on a pedal cycle and fled the scene.
However, he was valiantly pursued by both the Police and public spirited citizens, and was subsequently cornered in close proximity to the scene.
Upon his apprehension, an unlicensed Special Revolver with four live rounds as well as a portion of the stolen money was found in the suspect’s possession.
Ballistics tests will be conducted on the weapon to ascertain if it had ever been used in the commission of other crimes.
The suspect is also expected to be placed on identification parades in connection with several armed robberies committed in ‘D’ Division (West Bank Demerara).
