Gunman nabbed minutes after robbing woman at LBI

Moments after robbing a 37-year-old businesswoman and a 20-year-old female on Monday along the La Bonne Intention Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), the 31-year-old perpetrator was arrested.
The duo was robbed of an iPhone, 75 grams of raw gold, $5,000 cash, two handbags and $55,000.
It was reported that the victims stopped at a boutique at LBI Public Road after making a drop off at the Ogle Airport.
Whilst there, the suspect confronted the two woman and held them at gun point as he demanded that they hand over their valuables. As such, the victims being fearful for their lives, handed over the items.
The suspect then made good his escape.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police and based on a tracking devise on one of the phones, the police were able to intercept the motorcar at Industry, ECD.
The driver of the said motorcar disembarked with a handgun in his hand and began to run. He eventually disposed of the firearm but same was retrieved and proved to be a silver Taurus .32 pistol and a magazine with one .32 round of ammunition and six 9mm rounds.
A further search was conducted on the motorcar and the stolen articles were found. The suspect was cautioned, arrested and taken to the Sparendaam Police Station where he remains in custody.
