Gunmen rob 2 women at Meadow Bank Wharf

Two women were on Monday robbed by armed bandits at the Wild Caught Fresh Fish Depot located at Meadow Bank Wharf, Greater Georgetown. Based on reports received, the incident occurred at about 17:00h.
Police stated that the victims, 43-year-old Renita Joseph of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara (WBD), and 19-year-old Ariel Mangar of Prospect, East Bank Demerara (EBD), were relieved of a large sum of cash and other valuables including mobile phones and jewellery. One of the suspects was reportedly armed with a handgun.
After committing the crime, the two perpetrators escaped on a Honda XR motorcycle. No arrests have been made but investigations are ongoing.
Over the years, a number of persons have been robbed by armed bandits in the Meadow Bank Wharf area. In some cases, persons were relieved of hundreds of thousands of dollars and other items. Back in 2016, an armed bandit was shot by Police responding to an armed robbery in the area.
The confrontation had led to the arrest of two other suspects.
It was reported that on the day in question, three males, one armed with a handgun, stormed the Wild Caught Fresh Fish Depot at the Meadow Bank Wharf, Ruimveldt, and held the supervisor, Shane Robin, at gunpoint.
After the ordeal, they carted off with a camera, a digital video recorder (DVR), a radio set and other articles. During the robbery, the then 29-year-old supervisor was struck on his head.
