Gunmen rob delivery truck at Agricola

Bandits pounced on a SOL gas distribution truck at Agricola on Wednesday afternoon

A brazen afternoon robbery at Agricola, Greater Georgetown has left a driver and his porter grateful for their lives.
Reports are the incident occurred at 13:30h on Wednesday on the East Bank highway in the vicinity of Agricola.
Reports are that a gas delivery truck contracted to SOL Guyana Incorporated was proceeding to Georgetown when it was stopped by two bandits armed with a handgun and a cutlass on a motorcycle. The gunmen rode alongside the truck and pointed the gun at the driver in an effort to make him stop. Afraid for his life, the driver, who hails from the East Coast of Demerara, stopped and was robbed of a cellular phone and an undisclosed sum of cash. The two gunmen made good their escape into Agricola.
A passerby told Guyana Times that he was travelling to Eccles, East Bank Demerara(EBD) when he noticed a commotion and slowed down to enquire.
“I saw the congestion and decided to slow down and I notice two guys riding away on a CG motorcycle into Agricola. Then I realise is rob they rob him. The driver just left standing there trembling, thankful for his life because it look like them boys were armed,” the man related.
He added that no one pursued the suspects. “Nobody ain’t chase them or anything, because you done know you can’t survive in there if the boys come for you. At least thank God still, because it could have been worse,” he added.
An alarm was raised and Police were summoned to the scene. Police are investigating.
