The Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) have welcomed the opening of the new Anna Regina Stadium, describing the facility as another important step in Guyana’s development as one of the Caribbean’s leading cricket destinations.
The franchise said it is looking forward to playing at the new venue in the future, noting that the stadium presents an opportunity to take top-level cricket to Essequibo and connect with supporters in that region.
According to the Warriors, bringing world-class cricket to the people of Essequibo would be a significant moment for the franchise, as it seeks to share the Warrior spirit with fans across Guyana.
The addition of the Anna Regina Stadium also expands Guyana’s growing list of international-standard cricket venues. The franchise said the facility will create more opportunities to host elite cricket while also helping to inspire young players from across the country.
The Warriors also congratulated President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali and the Government of Guyana for their continued investment in cricket infrastructure. The franchise said those investments have strengthened Guyana’s position as one of the Caribbean’s premier homes of cricket and as a destination capable of hosting major international events.
In its statement, the franchise said it is looking forward to creating lasting memories at Anna Regina Stadium and sharing the excitement of elite cricket with the people of Essequibo in the years ahead.
The Warriors also noted the anticipated opening of the Palmyra Stadium in Berbice, which is expected to further add to Guyana’s growing number of internationally recognised sporting venues.
GAW will be in action later this month in the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League, which is scheduled to run from July 23 to August 1. Tickets are available at the local box office and online.
