Guyana batter Barbados to remain unbeaten

WICB Regional U-17 Championships 2016…

The Guyana completed their second victory in as many matches with an easy six-wicket victory over Barbados when the West Indies Regional Under-17 Tournament continued yesterday in Trinidad and Tobago.
Playing their second round match at the National Cricket Centre Ground in Balmain, Couva the Barbadians won the toss and batted first, a decision they regretted as their innings never got going. There were 17 innings extras while opener Shian Brathwaite made 15 as no other batsman passed nine runs as they were bowled out for 59 from 34.3 overs.
The Guyanese bowlers were difficult to pick but the chief wrecker was Kevin Sinclair with figures of 10-3-19-4. He was nicely supported by Kelvin Umroa with three wickets at a cost of five runs from six overs and three balls. Ashmeed Nedd (6/1), Kevlon Anderson (9/1) and Alphius Bookie (11/1) were not to be left out claiming one wicket each.
In reply the Barbados bowlers gave the Guyanese top order some trouble in getting to their target by picking up wickets regularly but in the end the victory was achieved at 63/4 from 22.1 overs.
The unbeaten Guyanese lost Sachin Singh for three, Captain Bhaskar Yadram for 13, Bookie without scoring and Joshua Persaud for 17 but the victory was never out of reach on the big outfield chasing a small total. Steve Deonarine 18 not out and Sagar Hathiramani four not out saw their team home with 27.5 overs to spare.
