Guyana captures gold and silver at Mr. Universe Colombia

Guyana’s bodybuilding athletes continued to make their mark on the international stage, capturing gold and silver medals at the Mr. Universe Colombia Championships, held on October 10 and 11, 2026.

Shakeel Babb led the Guyanese contingent with a first-place finish in the Junior Bodybuilding category, delivering a strong performance against international competitors to secure the gold medal.
Jonathan Jeffrey also produced an impressive showing, earning second place in the Men’s Physique Open Class to claim silver and add another international achievement to his résumé.
Jeffrey’s performance in Colombia came just one month after he won the Men’s Physique division at a competition in Guatemala in September 2026. His back-to-back podium finishes highlight his consistency and continued progress in international bodybuilding.
President of the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF), Videsh Sookram, accompanied the athletes and supported the Guyanese contingent throughout the championships.
The GBBFF congratulated both athletes on their performances, commending their dedication, discipline and efforts in representing Guyana and the Golden Arrowhead on the international stage.
Babb’s junior bodybuilding title and Jeffrey’s silver-medal finish in the Men’s Physique Open Class represent another positive result for Guyana’s bodybuilding fraternity as the athletes continue to gain experience and recognition at international competitions.
