Preparation for the Guyana Cup has intensified, and fans will have the first taste of the 18th running of the iconic horse race event when the road show takes centre stage in Linden today, Saturday, July 18.
The roadshow will promote the evolution of the Guyana Cup and showcase what’s in store for the horse racing fans ahead of the mega event, which is set for August 23 at the Rising Sun Turf Club.
Fans will have a close-up look at the SinoTruk pick-up that will be given as a raffle to one lucky fan who purchased an extra Guyana Cup ticket.
While the main focus will be on the spectacular races between the elite horses, the 2026 Guyana Cup will be a family-orientated event. The illustrious vibe will be felt from the gate of entry to the finish line and beyond.

The roadshows will commence in Linden, followed by Georgetown. Additional roadshows will be held in Berbice, in both Regions Five and Six. Parika fans will also have a glimpse of the Guyana Cup.
The West Coast Demerara/Region Three roadshow is tentatively set for July 26, while New Amsterdam/Region Six will have the first taste of the Guyana Cup on August 2.
The West Coast Berbice roadshow is set for Saturday, August 8, and Georgetown will have their roadshow on August 15. Organisers indicated that the dates are tentative.
Organised by the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred racing committee, this Guyana Cup is expected to attract all the top horses and jockeys from across the region.
A total of 14 races will be running at this year’s Guyana Cup, and more than GY$66 million in cash and prizes will be paid out.
The feature race, which will be the Banks Guyana Cup, will fetch a purse of GY$22 million.

P.Jagdeo E-Class (One Mile) – Total purse GY$2,812,500
Jagmohan F-Class (One Mile) – Total purse GY$1,875,000
