The Government on Monday has launched a new Online Guyana Passport Application and Appointment System, allowing citizens to complete passport applications electronically and schedule appointments online. The platform, which was launched on Sunday through the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is accessible at pp.gpf.gov.gy and forms part of the Government’s broader effort to modernise public services through digital technology.
According to the Home Affairs Ministry, the system enables applicants to create online accounts, complete passport application forms electronically, submit the required information and book passport appointments from their homes or offices.
The initiative is aligned with President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s commitment to expanding digital Government services and improving access to public services.
Officials said the new platform is expected to improve efficiency within the passport application process by reducing long lines, minimising administrative delays and providing a more transparent system for applicants. Key features include online account registration and secure user authentication, electronic passport application forms, online appointment scheduling, email notifications and appointment confirmations with measures aimed at reducing processing bottlenecks.
Home Affairs Minister, Oneidge Walrond said the introduction of the system represents a major milestone in the Government’s efforts to modernise public services. “The introduction of the Online Guyana Passport Application and Appointment System marks a major milestone in our efforts to modernise Government services. This platform will provide citizens with a more convenient, efficient, and user-friendly way to access passport services while reducing the need for lengthy in-person processes,” Walrond stated. The Ministry noted that the platform was developed with security and user experience as key priorities to ensure the protection of applicants’ personal information while providing a seamless digital process.
Citizens are being encouraged to access the official portal, create an account and follow the required steps to begin the passport application process and schedule appointments. The GPF has also urged applicants to familiarise themselves with the new system and take advantage of the services now available online.
