Foreign Affairs Minister Hugh Todd is currently representing Guyana for the Observer Research Foundation’s Raisina Dialogue, held in New Delhi, India.

Foreign Affairs Minister Hugh Todd meeting with Indian PM Narendra Modi

The Minister would have met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the event, where he is expected to participate in important panel discussions on global issues such as climate change, disaster relief and COVID impact. An important bilateral meeting with Indian Cabinet Ministers as well as participants from other countries participating in the event is also on the agenda.
The Raisina Dialogue is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the global community. Every year, leaders in politics, business, media, and civil society converge in New Delhi to discuss the state of the world and explore opportunities for cooperation on a wide range of contemporary matters. The dialogue is structured as a multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral discussion, involving Heads of State, Cabinet Ministers and local government officials, who are joined by thought leaders from the private sector, media and academia, ORF has published.
The Raisina Dialogue was created “to enable dialogue and conversations with all parties”.
The ORF has noted, “In a travel-constrained world, the pandemic taught us an important lesson. It made us realise that in a world functioning online, the Raisina Dialogue need not be located only in New Delhi. So, last year we hosted special sessions of the virtual Raisina Dialogue from other cities across the world. This year, we are doing the same with the in-person Raisina Dialogue with sessions being hosted from Washington, DC, as well as from Berlin.”
ORF is an independent global think tank based in Delhi, India. The foundation has three centres in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. (G12)
