Guyana set to host first Caribbean beach volleyball championship

Guyana is set to host its first Caribbean Beach Volleyball Championship on September 26–27, with teams from Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Cayman Islands expected to compete alongside the country’s leading players at The End Games Beach Volleyball Caribbean Championship.
Hosted and sanctioned by the Guyana Beach Volleyball Association (GBVA) and the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF), the tournament will also offer the top local team a route to the next CSV Tour leg in French Guiana in October 2026.
According to the organisers, the competition will mark the first time a Caribbean Beach Volleyball Championship is staged on Guyanese shores. It will give local players an opportunity to test themselves against regional opposition while strengthening sporting relationships across the Caribbean.
The championship builds on the GBVA’s Annual End Game Beach Volleyball Tournament, which the association describes as the leading event on its calendar. The two-day programme is expected to bring together athletes, officials, supporters and other stakeholders for a weekend of competition and sportsmanship.
Beyond the September tournament, the organisers see the event as a step towards bringing a South American CSV Tour tournament to Guyana for the first time in 2027. The local winners, or highest-placed Guyanese team, will qualify to participate in the October 2026 leg in French Guiana.
The GBVA is working with sponsors and stakeholders to support the championship. Sagacity and Autopits are among the principal supporters, alongside the Ministry of Tourism and several small businesses.
The association said it was also awaiting support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, which it indicated had been promised.
With regional teams expected to participate, the organisers aim to showcase Guyana’s beach volleyball talent, expand access to international competition and build a stronger foundation for future events.
