– Private Sector invited to participate
Guyana is set to host the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s (CTO) State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) 2026 from October 5 to 9, and members of the Private Sector and wider business community are invited to participate.
This marks the first time that Guyana will host SOTIC, which will be held under the theme “Tourism Futures: Smart, Sustainable, and Inclusive”.
The conference will bring together tourism officials, industry leaders, Private Sector representatives, investors, researchers, media, and other stakeholders from across the Caribbean and international markets to examine key developments, challenges, and opportunities shaping the future of tourism.
President Dr Irfaan Ali is expected to deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony.
According to a joint release, the programme will explore tourism intelligence and data, technology and innovation, sustainable and regenerative tourism, destination competitiveness, Indigenous tourism, the creative economy, and cruise tourism.
Further, it will also feature the Investing in Guyana Luncheon, Cruise Master Class, B2B engagement and networking opportunities, and the Caribbean Tourism Research Forum.
“For Guyana’s business community, the conference provides a platform to engage with regional and international industry representatives, explore potential business and investment opportunities, and gain insight into developments influencing the tourism sector,” the release added.
Businesses across the tourism value chain, including accommodation, attractions, transportation, travel and tours, food and beverage, aviation, creative industries, technology, finance, and investment, are encouraged to participate.
The programme begins with CTO Business Meetings on October 5 to 6, followed by SOTIC on October 7 to 8. The Regional Tourism Youth Congress will take place on October 8, while Destination Media Briefings are scheduled for October 9.
