Guyana U-17 Girls suffer 15-0 defeat to Mexico

Guyana’s Under-17 Girls’ team suffered a heavy defeat in the 2022 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship in the Dominican Republic, losing 15-0 to Mexico in the Round of 16 on Saturday evening. This defeat meant the Guyana ladies were booted from the championships.
The Guyanese were down 2-0 in the fifth minute of play and Mexico took advantage of the early breakthroughs to record a comprehensive win.
Valerie Vargas, who opened the scoring in the second minute, added two more goals in the 49th and 54th minutes, while Layla Sirdah (27th, 33rd, and 44th) and Tatiana Flores (47th, 56th, and 60th) also recorded hat-tricks.
Michel Fong (5th), Jade Martinez (34th), Katherin Guijarro (59th), an own goal by Alyssa Blake (74th), Maribel Flores (82nd) and Deiry Ramirez (90th) accounted for the other goals for Mexico.
