Guyana, US discuss stronger investment, trade ties

The United States (US) and Guyana continue to strengthen bilateral relations, with senior officials from both countries meeting on Tuesday to discuss expanding economic cooperation and investment opportunities. According to a statement from the US State Department, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met with Guyana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Hugh Todd to discuss the growing partnership between the two nations. During the meeting, Landau highlighted the importance of increasing US private sector engagement in Guyana and expanding commercial ties between the two countries. The discussions focused on shared economic priorities and opportunities for American companies to contribute to Guyana’s development through sustainable investment and commercial partnerships. The two officials also examined ways to deepen economic cooperation as Guyana continues to attract international interest and investment.
The State Department said the meeting reaffirmed the strong and expanding partnership between Georgetown and Washington.
Landau also reiterated the US’ commitment to Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, underscoring continued US support for the country.
