The Guyana Football Federation (GFF), in partnership with the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), will kickstart the CONCACAF “Bigger Game” Academy across four pilot Regional Member Associations on Saturday, October 10, as part of its continued efforts to strengthen grassroots football development in Guyana.

The programme will provide structured, age-appropriate football sessions for boys and girls between the ages of six and 12, giving young players an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game, develop their skills and build a lasting connection with football.
The 10-week programme will be conducted across four Regional Member Associations – Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA), East Demerara Football Association (EDFA), East Bank Football Association (EBFA) and Georgetown Football Association (GFA).
The opening sessions on Saturday will be held at the following venues:
UDFA: Silvertown Community Ground – 09:00h
EDFA: Buxton Community Centre – 09:00h
EBFA: National Training Centre, Providence – 08:00h
GFA: C-Field Community Centre, Sophia – 15:00h
Each pilot association will host sessions for 10 consecutive weeks before the programme culminates in a grand festival bringing together participants from all four regions to celebrate their development and participation.
The Bigger Game Academy is designed to create a positive and inclusive environment where children can develop not only their football abilities but also important values such as teamwork, discipline, enjoyment and personal development.
The initiative forms part of the GFF’s broader grassroots development strategy and its efforts to strengthen the national player development pathway by providing greater access to organised football at the community level.
The Federation and participating regional member associations will work together to ensure that the activities are delivered in a structured and child-friendly manner, giving youngsters a strong foundation as they begin their football journeys.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend the launch sessions, support the young participants and become part of the initiative within their respective communities.
The CONCACAF Bigger Game Academy officially begins on October 10, marking the start of a 10-week programme aimed at introducing more children to football and helping to develop the next generation of Guyanese players.
