Guyanese businessman found dead in T&T

Police in Trinidad are investigating the murder of a Guyanese national who has been living there for the last 25 years.

According to CNC 3, out of Trinidad, 52-year-old Sewkumar Dalchand was found murdered in his home in Macoya Road Extension, on Wednesday morning.
The news outlet reported that the businessman was found with his hands and feet bound while his house was ransacked and his vehicle was missing.
Relatives were reported as telling CNC 3 that they had not heard from Dalchand since Sunday and went looking for him the morning, when he was discovered dead.
It was reported that Dalchand was a wholesale trader who was well known in the community and gave a lot towards the development of the area. He had moved to Trinidad 25 years ago after living a poor life in Guyana and found success in Trinidad, the news station said.
According to CNC 3, local Police there said the body was in an advanced state of decomposition.
The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre where a post-mortem will be performed to determine the cause of death. Officers of the Homicide Bureau are continuing investigations.
