Guyanese coaching pair in consideration for international spots

The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) announced on Monday that it has nominated a pair of local coaches who have produced world-class athletes to be considered for the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Coaches Committee.
The names of the two coaches – Terrence Poole, MS, the GBA Technical Director and Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Head Coach, and Sebert Blake, the Chairman of the GBA Coaches Commission – were pulled from a group of local coaches.
The two holders of AIBA Three-Star certificates are part of a handful of regional officials to have made the necessary grade. As such, GBA President Steve Ninvalle disclosed that both locals stand a very good chance of making it into the prestigious committee.
“Even though they are in competition with persons from over 150 countries, I am confident that they can be successful,” Ninvalle said.
The Coaches Commission is one of several new measures implemented by recently-elected AIBA President Umar Kremlev of Russia.
