…leading more than 1000 members across Caribbean
Guyanese medical doctor and community advocate Dr Kimberly Manbodh has assumed office as District Rotaract Representative (DRR) for Rotaract District 7030, becoming only the fifth Guyanese to hold the organisation’s highest elected office at the district level. Dr Manbodh officially began her one-year term on July 1, 2026, succeeding in the role as the 40th DRR in the district’s history. She will provide leadership to more than 1000 Rotaractors across 47 clubs in 17 countries and territories throughout the Caribbean.
A release from the organisation stated that her appointment marks another regional leadership achievement for Guyana, with responsibility for guiding the district’s strategic direction, supporting club leaders, overseeing district committees and representing Rotaract at regional and international forums. She will also coordinate district initiatives and lead preparations for the 2027 District Conference, which is scheduled to be held in Grenada.

A medical doctor by profession, Dr Manbodh is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cysterhood Support Guyana, an organisation that supports women living with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and Polyendocrine Metabolic Syndrome (PMS). She also manages two small businesses and has been recognised nationally as one of Guyana’s 25 Influential Women Leaders. Within the Rotary movement, she has served in several leadership roles, including Vice President (VP), Director, Assistant DRR, Lead Assistant DRR, District Rewards and Recognition Officer and Conference Chair for the 2024 Rotaract District Conference hosted in Guyana. She also served two terms as president of the Rotaract Club of Georgetown, the country’s oldest Rotaract club. Manbodh is also a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), one of Rotary’s highest recognitions, conferred by the Rotary Club of Garden City.
Reflecting on her appointment, she said the position represents both an honour and a significant responsibility. She noted that the role reflects the confidence others have placed in her leadership and reinforces the value of consistency and service. Her involvement with Rotaract began in 2018 after being inspired by a colleague whose personal and leadership development had been shaped through the organisation.
According to Manbodh, Rotaract has strengthened her resilience and reinforced the importance of servant leadership, particularly during challenging periods. Rotaract, the global service organisation for adults aged 18 and older, forms part of Rotary International. In addition to community service, members participate in leadership development, professional networking and projects focused on education, health, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, disaster preparedness, economic development and peacebuilding.
District 7030 is one of Rotary’s most diverse districts, stretching from the ABC Islands in the southern Caribbean to French Guiana. With English, French, Dutch and Papiamento spoken across the district, Dr Manbodh said promoting inclusion and collaboration among clubs will be a key focus during her tenure. For the 2026-2027 Rotary year, she has adopted the theme “Becoming One”, encouraging greater collaboration among clubs throughout the district. The theme was first introduced during her presidency of the Rotaract Club of Georgetown in 2021-2022, when clubs strengthened partnerships during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Among her priorities for the coming year are increasing district membership, establishing at least five new Rotaract clubs, strengthening collaboration across the Rotary family and positioning District 7030 as a model district within Rotary International.
She also hopes her leadership will encourage more young people to take on leadership roles and become active in community service.
Describing the appointment as a proud moment for Guyana, Manbodh said it provides an opportunity to showcase the leadership and potential of young Guyanese across the Caribbean while contributing to regional development and youth empowerment.
She added that Rotaract can play a meaningful role in addressing issues affecting young people, including cyberbullying, violence, unhealthy lifestyles, mental health awareness and period poverty.
Encouraging young Guyanese to pursue leadership opportunities, Manbodh said meaningful change begins with individuals who are willing to step forward and serve their communities.
