Guyanese referees to participate in FIFA-CONCACAF’s training programmes

Guyana will participate in two FIFA/CONCACAF-facilitated training programmes from September 27 to October 4 at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa, Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica. The two courses – FIFA Futuro III Course for Referee Instructors and Referee Fitness Instructors from the 27th September – 1st October, 2016 and CONCACAF Assessors’ Course from the 2nd – 4th October, 2016 – will see the participation of three representatives including Head of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Refereeing Department, Stanley Lancaster; Referee Assessor Roy Mc Arthur and Referee Instructor Lindley Langhorne. Lancaster and Mc Arthur will participate in both courses while Langhorne will participate in the FIFA Futuro III Course for Referee Instructors and Referee Fitness Instructors.

The annual courses seek to build capacity of the respective referee instructors and assessors by exposing them to the latest scientific methods and practices for instructing, teaching and assessing and will consist of both theoretical and practical sessions. It is intended to act as a Trainer-of-Trainer course.

The sessions will address, among others, the revised FIFA Laws of the Game and their respective interpretation and be facilitated by two FIFA personnel – Peter Prendergast, FIFA Regional Development Officer / Technical Instructor and the FIFA Fitness Instructor, Allan Morgan Browne.The respective personnel departed on Sunday and upon their return, they are expected to coordinate capacity building sessions for respective national instructors and assessors.
