Guyanese who excelled at Hugh Wooding Law School admitted to Bar
Deborah Barrow-Grahame, the Guyanese who came out as best graduating student of 2020 at the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago, was official admitted to the Bar by acting Chief Justice Roxane George.
The outstanding academic achievements of Barrow-Grahame were highlighted in the presentation of her petition. These include a History Degree with distinction, Master’s in International Trade Policy and Best Student on the Principal’s Roll of Honour at Hugh Wooding Law School.
Her petition was presented by Managing Partner of Hughes, Fields and Stoby, Nigel Hughes.
Madame Chief Justice exhorted the newest member to the Bar to always aspire for excellence, to keep raising the bar and most importantly, to share her knowledge with others.
Barrow-Grahame said she would have used the Chief Justice as a guiding role model, having read many judgements put forward by the learned legal mind. The new admittee said she has a passion for knowledge and legal challenges.
From the inception, Barrow-Grahame said that she was not initially interested in litigation so she delayed her journey to law school, in which she took the route of pursuing post-graduate studies in related fields before attending law school.
Barrow-Grahame has committed to upholding the high traditions of the Bar and to always endeavour to increase the levels of scholarship in her practice at the Bar.
