Guyanese woman found dead in Suriname

A 36-year-old Guyanese woman, who had been residing in neighbouring Suriname, was on Saturday found dead in her home, located at Albina, Eastern Suriname.
Dead is Phona Sellyfan Pherson, who resided with her husband, who is also Guyanese.
According to reports from the Suriname Herald, it is suspected that the woman was murdered.
This suspicion was raised after eyewitnesses observed the woman’s spouse leaving the home with a bag in his possession, shortly before the discovery of the corpse. The man has since been labelled as a suspect in the matter. The Albina Police have transferred the case to the East Region investigation department for further probe.
