Guymine defeat Police to enter round of 16

The Berbice Cricket Board are pushing ahead with their plan to complete the 90-team New Building Society 40-Over Second Division Tournament by the end of February.
Guymine were the latest team to reach the playoffs, with a 3-wicket victory over Police. Meanwhile, Rose Hall Town Tigers have already advanced to the quarter-finals, after they crushed Chesney by 10 wickets at the Jai Hind Ground in the lone playoff match played to date.
Guymine bowled out Police for 80 runs in 20 overs, with Kedar Amsterdam top scoring with 25. Keshan Ramsarran led with 5 for 27, while Joel Seitram supported with 4 for 16, and Gregory Crandon accounted for the other wicket with 1 for 1.
In reply, Guymine reached 81 for 7 in fifteen overs, with Seitram and Ramsarran returning with the bat to score 19 and 16 respectively.
At the Jai Hind Ground, Rose Hall Tigers crushed Chesney in a match reduced to 20 overs due to overnight rain. Former national 20/20 player Imran Khan smashed 68, which included 3 boundaries and 7 maximums, to lead Chesney to 147 for 3 from their allotted overs.
S. Gajnabi top scored with 34 not out, with support from Ricky Amoi who made 20 not out.
In return, former national youth players Balchand Baldeo and Khemraj Mahadeo pushed their team to victory by putting on 148 without loss in just 12.2 overs. Baldeo blasted 7 sixes and 6 boundaries in the small ground to be unbeaten on 86, while Mahadeo was undefeated on 39, hitting 2 sweetly timed boundaries and 2 huge maximums.
Meanwhile, after meeting with clubs in zone three and zone sixteen, the BCB has declared Cotton Tree and No 48 Challengers as winners of their zones, based on superior net run-rate.
Sixteen of the 19 zones have already had winners declared, while the remaining three will be decided shortly.
