Haniff joins Everest CC as youth coach

Former national cricketer Azeemul Haniff has been appointed to the post of Junior Coach of Everest Cricket Club effective February 2019.
Haniff, who represented Guyana for more than a decade, takes over from Latchman Yadram who became unavailable owing to other commitments. The new coach, who took up the post on Monday, February 4, is in charge of the development of the age group members, the Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19

levels as well as female cricketers of the prestigious club.
With the experience of 51 First-Class matches and 13 List A matches, the former opening left-handed batsman said he was looking forward to the new role. “I was thinking about it for some time and I am glad that the executives of Everest reached out to me,” Haniff said.
The 41-year-old hit the ground running on Monday at the Camp Road-based club and will be busy over the next few months preparing the various youth teams for competitions in April this year. Haniff was a member of the winning Guyana Under-19 sides from 1995 to 1997, and graduated to the West Indies Under-19 team where he played alongside Ramnaresh Sarwan, Vishaul Nagamootoo, Nicholas DeGroot, Chris Gayle, Wavell Hinds, Shirley Clarke and the late Runako Morton. He also represented the West Indies A team before being selected to go to the Champions Trophy in 2000 in Kenya, but did not play a game.
After the 2007 regional season, the Industry Village resident called time on his career at the age of 29 years old.
