…grateful for excellent performance heading into CPL
Guyana Amazon Warriors batsman Chandrapaul Hemraj continues to impress and improve in his game as the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 is just around the corner. The stylish left-hander recently concluded his journey in the MAQ USA T10 League, where he emerged as the leading run-scorer.
Hemraj had stellar performances of 60 off 19 balls and 66 off 25 balls in convincing match-winning innings. His team, South Central Region made it to the final, but lost to Atlantic Region by eight wickets. South Central batted first and posted 115-6 in their allotted 10 overs, Atlantic Region then chased the total with two balls to spare, ending on 116-2. Hemraj ended the tournament hitting 25 sixes and scored the most runs – 235 – at an average of 58.75 and a strike rate of 235.
In an invited comment, Hemraj said, “It’s been a decent weekend of cricket at MAQ Stadium playing on turf pitches. It had some good players in the tournament. This is good practice going into CPL.”
Prior to the 2021 tournament, in 2020 he played in the US OPEN CRICKET 2020 and walked away with 190 runs, a high score of 87, and an average of 63.33 at a strike rate of 163.79 while playing for the Somerset Cavaliers.
When the 2021 edition of the Hero CPL commences, Hemraj will be looking to carry his form into the tournament. While T10 and T20 are different platforms, Hemraj’s batting has shown a vast improvement and if he has his way, he will be among the top scorers this year. The 2021 tournament gets underway on August 28 and runs until September 19; all 33 matches will be played at Warner Park in St Kitts.
