Hemraj’s 130 propels Cavaliers to victory in US Minor League

Guyana Amazon Warriors opener Chandrapaul Hemraj blasted a scintillating century over the weekend for the New Jersey Somerset Cavaliers in the US Minor League Atlantic Conference, which was played at the Howe Athletic Complex.

New Jersey Somerset Cavaliers won the toss and elected to bat against the Empire State Titans. The Cavaliers were off to a flier as Hemraj and Abhishek Prabhu made the Titans pay for their wayward bowling. The duo unloaded a 160-run partnership before Hemraj, who was the aggressor, fell for a well-played 130 off 54 balls. His aggressive knock included one boundary and 16 towering maximums, all at a strike rate of 240.74.
With the score at 160-1 in 13.2 overs, Prabhu and Xavier Marshall carried on with individual scores of 42 and 41 runs respectively. This propelled the Cavaliers to 233-4 in their allotted 20 overs. Ariful Haque was the standout bowler with 2-49 from his four overs.
In the chase, the Cavaliers were excellent in the field as they restricted the Titans to 160-9 in their quota of overs, winning by 73 runs. Najaf Shah (2-21), Umaid Asif (2-33), Imrul Hashib (3-32), Burhan Saeed (1-36) and Hemraj’s four overs that went for only 35 played a major role in the Cavaliers’ victory.
To date, Hemraj has played nine matches, scoring 238 runs at an average of 26.44 and a strike rate of 180.30, he has also bagged a total of four wickets and six catches.
