Herstelling couple attacked, robbed by gunmen

A husband and wife of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara (EBD) were on Tuesday evening attacked and robbed by two gunmen during a home invasion.
The husband, a 50-year-old taxi driver, had ventured into the yard at around 20:40h to feed the dog and lock up the shop when he was accosted by the armed bandits, who forced him to return into the house, where his wife and daughter were.
In a statement on the matter, Police Headquarters revealed that the husband was gun-butted, and received lacerations to his head.
The armed bandits then tied up the man and his wife with pieces of cloth while they ransacked the house. They eventually escaped with two cellular phones worth some $120,000, a television set, a quantity of jewellery, and some US$1200.
An investigation has been launched. (G11)
