Thirty-three-year-old Christopher George of Lot 162 Herstelling, East Bank Demerara was reportedly in the process of assaulting his 60-year-old mother in the wee hours of Thursday when the Police, responding to the report, turned up at his residence.
George reportedly armed himself with a cutlass and dealt a rank two chops to his hand and left knee.
The Police retaliated by drawing his service revolver and discharging two rounds, striking George to his right arm and right collarbone.
The rank and George were both rushed to the hospital, where they were admitted. Investigations are ongoing.
