Five games were played at the National Gymnasium on Saturday evening as the Guyana Hockey Board/ Lucozade Indoor Hockey Tournament continued, but one match stood out from the others and will go down in the record books. Old Fort (OF) Knockers were completely outplayed by the undefeated Hikers team in a 26-3 loss.

Arodyd Brandford, the man in form scored a massive 15 goals while Captain, Robert France and Andrew Stewart produced four goals each.

Brandford scored nine goals in the first half of play, including the first goal of the match in the fourth minute and double in the 13th minute. Leon Bacchus also scored twice in the first half, scoring in the fifth and ninth minutes. Jamarj Assanah scored in the ninth minute, as the Hikers team stacked up 12 goals at the end of the first half.

OF Knockers managed to score three times, once by Orin Singh in the 18th minute and once from Dominic Alleyne in the seventh minute of play.

The second half did not change the luck of the OF Knockers as they could only score one more goal to add to their tally courtesy of Singh.

Hikers continued to apply the pressure with Brandford scoring another six goals from the 22nd minute to the 36th minute.

Brandford, however, did not do it alone. France pierced goal keeper David Williams in minutes, 21, 25, 26 and 31 respectively, all of which were field goals.

Stewart, coming in to the latter part of the game, scored the same amount of goals as France.

In the other contests, another team representing Old Fort, Stallions, defeated Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Pitbulls 5-1, lead by Jason DeSantos’ hat-trick.

In the first half of the match, DeSantos scored the only two goals of that half in the seventh minute via a penalty goal, and in the 15th minute.

Terry Shaw scored the first goal of the second half with the clock at 26 minutes while Askofu Simon marked his first in the 31st minute.

Mark Sargaent scored the only goal for Pitbulls in the 37th minute of play, before DeSantos closed off the scoring in the 38th minute with his third goal.

Jason Clarke was given a red card in the 38th minute.

In the third male match of the night, Bounty GCC and Vintage played to a 4-4 draw.

Alan Fernandes was the first to score, putting Vintage on the scorecard in the second minute. Michael Craig replied in the fourth minute to level the scores. The back and forth it continued, as Philip Fernandes sent Vintage in the lead in the sixth minute, only to have Craig level the score once more in the eighth minute.

It was Bounty who took the lead in the 10th minute as Kareem McKenzie added his name in the goal scorer’s column, but it was not long before Marcus Fiedtkou scored Vintage’s third goal four minutes later.

The first half closed with Peter DeGroot scoring the fourth goal for Bounty to put them one goal ahead at 4-3.

In the second half, only Philip Fernandes scored in the 28th minute to draw the match.

When the night turned over to the female category, Spartans defeated Old Fort 2-0.

Dominique DeGroot scored a penalty goal in the 12th minute, while Marzana Fiedtkou scored a field goal in the 27th minute.

Kerensa Fernandes scored twice to lead Pizza Hut GCC to a 4-2 victory over Hikers.

The first half was levelled at one goal each thanks to Pizza Hut’s Tiffany Soloman scoring in the 12th minute and Marryann Murray’s sixth minute goal for Hikers.

Fernandes scored in the 33rd and 34th minutes, while Aliyah Gordon scored Pizza Hut’s fourth goal two minutes later.

Latacia Chung scored the second goal for Hikers in the 29th minute.
