Rain forces Georgetown, East Bank clash to end with “No Result”

In a match which seemed to produce a result, the final day was unfortunately ended prematurely due to an early Sunday morning downpour at the Everest Cricket Club, which meant Georgetown and East Bank clash finished with “No Result” in the first round of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Jaguars Franchise League 3-Day.

The match was called-off just after lunch and saw both Georgetown and East Bank receiving three points each. They also got an additional three points each for bowling out each other within 110 overs. Georgetown’s fast bowlers gave them the slight edge, as they scored an extra 0.3 points taking their grand total to 6.3. But East Bank bettered their opponents by 0.1, due to the 0.4 points their pacers got which gave them a total of 6.4 points.

In East Bank’s first innings, they were bowled out for paltry 192 on the opening day. However they managed to snatch first innings points after skipper, off-spinner Steven Jacobs 3-29, the medium-pace of Sherfene Rutherford accounted for 3-23 and left-arm spinner Totoram Bishun figures of 2-35 did the damage restrict Georgetown to 183.

Starring with the bat for Georgetown, were wicket-keeper/batsman Dexter Solomon who stroked an unbeaten 62 which was supported by Kwame Crosse’s 36 and National all-rounder Christopher Barnwell 31.

In East Bank’s 2nd innings, they were staggering at 68-5 but had a decent lead of 77 nevertheless with Rutherford on 12 and Jacobs on 02.
