The GTT Indoor Hockey Tournament continued at the National Gymnasium with some high profile games across four categories.
In the second division clashes, St. Stanislaus bounced back from a loss on Tuesday to sneak past Old Fort Supersonic 2-1. Tony Cole scored the lone goal for Supersonic in the 29th minute (29th) while Hilmar Chestar (21th) and Troy Hodge (30th) scored for the school based team.
The second team based at the Brickdam location, Saints also registered a not so convincing win, beating Hikers 4-2.
Michael Harding and Ryan Branford scored for Hikers in the 7thand 10threspectively while SeonSookhai (11th), Kevin Edwards (19th), Joel Hunte (20th) and Hilton Chestar (26th) produced the victory goals.
In the Ladies division, Pizza Hut GCC made light work of the Spartans registering a 9-2 drubbing.
After only managing a draw to Old Fort on the opening night, Spartans scored two consolation goals with Shebiki Baptiste (29th) and Paige Fernandes (33th) hitting the targets.
KerensaFernandes was the key destroyer sweeping a hat trick of goals in the space of four minutes (13th, 15th, and 16th). Sonia Jardine (8th), Aliyah Gordon (20th), Trisha Woodroffe (26th), VenessaPires (37th) and MarzanFiedtkou (40th) were the other scorers.
Woodpecker Hikers ladies also secured a victory as they brushed aside the Old Fort Lady Bugs 4-1.
Latacia Chung scored twice (3rd and 21st) while Maria Munroe (37th) and Tekeisha Dillion (14th) scored for Hikers and Bahvini Kaladeen scoring in the 30th for Lady Bugs.
In the veterans match up, GCC defeated rivals, Old Fort 2-1 with Dwayne Scott (15th) and Philip Fernandes (27th) scoring for the winning side and John Abrahams (22th) scoring Old Fort’s only goal.In the main event, 2020 failed to get a win under their belt as Pepsi Hikers downed them 12-2. Once again the two star strikers took to the front with Captain Robert France scoring a Hat trick (4th, 11th, 21st) and Aroydy Branford scoring six times (9th,13th,16th,30th,36th, 38th). JamarjAssanah(22nd), Devin Munroe (30th) and Andrew Stewart (37th) were the other scorers while for team 2020, Tahrea Garnett (31st) and Troy Hodge (32nd) found the back of the net.
The next games scheduled for the same venue are GCC taking on St. Stanislaus College (Division 2), Pizza Hut GCC battling Old Fort (Women’s Division); Phoenix coming up against Saints (Division 2), Spartans will compete with Hikers in the Veterans Category, Hikers will match skills with GCC and GCC tackling Old Fort in the 1st division main event.
