Hog Island businessman robbed by armed men

The Police are on the hunt for three men who attacked and robbed a businessman of an undisclosed sum of cash among other items at Vreed-en-Hoop, West Bank Demerara (WBD).
Fifty-five-year-old Thakoor Singh, of Eastern Hog Island, Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara), was reportedly at his cousin’s snackette on Saturday and about 21:30h, he went outside to feed the dogs.
After he was finished, he collected his bag from the shop and upon doing so, he was confronted by the men – one of whom was armed with a chopper.
Singh reportedly put up a fight but he was dealt several blows about his body with the chopper.
During the ordeal, the other two suspects held on to the victim’s hands and one of them pushed his hand in a pants pocket and relieved him of one Blu cellphone and the cash. They then made good their escape on foot.
The matter was reported and the injured businessman was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH), where he was treated and sent away. The Police have launched an investigation into the robbery.
