Hope Town, Bush Lot set up big wins

The Berbice Cricket Board’s Second Division Season in the West Berbice Zone continues with two exciting matches on Sunday October 22 at the Bush Lot Community Centre and Paradise grounds. At the Bush Lot Community Center, hosts Bush Lot United defeated Achievers Cricket Club by 20 runs in their 40 over affair. Batting for Bush Lot, R. Hemraj top scored with 67 while B. Jaikarran and J Dilchand offered support with 25 and 23 respectively. All the other batsmen failed to reach double figures as the home side were bowled out for 187 in 38.2 overs. Rendell Bobb of West Berbice took 3 for 43, Randy Wade, Natasha Gangoo and S. Angel took 2 wickets each for 33, 28 and 12 respectively.
Batting for Achievers, R Mitchell scored 72, Darius Nedd 18, Randy Wade 14 and Royston Wade 11 as they were bowled for 168 in 24.3 overs. In Bush Lot’s bowling attack, N Persaud took 4 wickets for 14 runs in his 6 overs, while T Persaud had figures of 2 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs. R. Henraj and J Dilchand each took one wicket. At the Paradise Ground, Hopetown Cricket Club defeated Paradise by25 runs in their feature game. Batting first, Hopetown scored 142 with Derrick McCalmon 29, and Steffon Adams 52. Bowling for Paradise Linden Davidson took 3 for 37 and Enoch Carmichael 4 for 17. Troy McKenzie took 2 for 32 in his 7 overs.
In Paradise’s reply, only Enoch Carmichael looked solid with the bat as he contributed 30 runs. All the other batsmen struggled against the bowling attack of the Hopetown lads, as Paradise was eventually bowled out for 117. Derrick McCalmon, bowling for Hopetown proved himself useful as he took 6 wickets for 34 runs. Stefon Adams and Kelwin Bennett took 2 wickets each for 26 and 8 runs respectively.
The competition continues on Sunday October 29.
