Hotel Manager, Special Constable robbed

A hotel manager was on Monday robbed of a cell phone and a quantity of items by two armed men while he was walking home.
Paul Rodney of Douglas Street, Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was robbed of one Motorola cell phone valued $50,000 and a bag with keys by two males at about 23:10h.
Rodney told Police that while he was walking home, one of the men placed a knife to the back of his neck and relieved him of the items. Both men subsequently made good their escape on foot.
The Police were summoned shortly after, and the area was combed for the suspects fitting the description provided, but they were not found.
Also on Monday, Sharon Marks, a Special Constable stationed at the Special Constabulary Headquarters and of Victoria, East Coast Demerara, was robbed of her shoulder bag which contained two national identification cards, a bank card, $800, a Police shirt and a headdress.
The woman was robbed at about 20:26h at Goed Hope, Railway Embankment, ECD, by two males.
According to reports, Marks was heading to work and was walking on the Goed Hope Embankment when she was confronted by the two suspects who grabbed her and demanded that she hand over the bag.
The Special Constable said one of the suspects then pulled the bag from her hand, and both him and his accomplice escaped on foot. The matter was subsequently reported to the Police, and checks were made for the suspects in the area, but it proved futile.
Investigations into both the robberies are ongoing. (G9)
