Avurel Roberts, 37, of Riverstown Village, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), was on Friday granted bail when she appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.
After the charge was read she pleaded not guilty.
It is alleged that on May 12, 2016, she unlawfully hit the minor in her head.
The injured child’s mother was present in court and a medical report showed that the child received a blunt blow to her ears. Prosecutor Haimraj Ramsewack had no objections to bail and it was set at $10,000.
However the unrepresented housewife told the magistrate she does not have the money to post bail and as such it was reduced to $5000.
The case will continue on June 3.
